I still have a lot to learn

It’s been a couple of years since I last posted on my blog. After the huge excitement of republishing some of my books, I had to get back to writing and teaching and haven’t really had much to write about beyond the day-to-day.
Next month is going to be exciting and interesting as I’m planning to publish the next instalment in the DI Kate Fletcher series. This one has taken me a few years to write but I’m finally happy with it. It’s the first book I’ll be self-publishing from scratch and I had a lot to learn about creating the best novel I could.
With the other books I already had manuscripts which had been edited, and I decided to stick to digital only for ease (and because the idea of creating a paperback version was quite daunting). This time I had to find somebody who had skills beyond my own knowledge of English and even my partner’s sub-editing expertise. Luckily, I was able to employ Morgen Bailey who’d edited one of my previous books and was happy to work with me again. She did a great job and taught me a lot about my own bad habits.
Editing completed, I asked Adrijus at Rocking Book Covers to create a design in keeping with the previous five books in the series.
And then the difficult part…
I’m going to publish Invisible in paperback as well as on Kindle.
I’m fairly computer literate and enjoy messing about with new software but this has been a real test of my abilities and patience. I’m still not quite there but the text is looking good and I’m pleased with the cover design so I have everything crossed that the sample that I’ll be sent will be what I want.
So, that just leaves publicity.
Watch this space!
Invisible will be published on September 23rd 2026.
